A Boy and His Popsicle

Not a fan of eating, this one.
Unless it's in the dessert family.  I swear, I don't know where he gets it.
Just kidding.  I know exactly where he gets it.  Moi.

He probably thinks, "why should I eat that banana when there are things like cookies/cake/doughnuts on the planet?"

If not for obesity, having a healthy heart, blah, blah, blah, I'd feel the same way.

Okay, try to look really tough and manly with all that pink popsicle on your face.
Well done.

Blooming Stuff

The lilacs have gone on to a better place.

But thanks to Grandma and Brooke, we now have some gerber daisies blooming.

But if you really want to see some flowers you need to hit the Butterfly House.  Their flowers are amazing.  We went last week with Grandma and Papa.

We stopped to take a picture on the way out.
Nate is executing what I call the "flop, drop and run."  That's where toddlers throw their arms up and go limp.  Maybe they even throw their shoulders out of socket or something, I don't know.  They become impossible to hold.  Maybe some prehistoric defense mechanism to keep them from being eaten by bears?
It's a mystery.

Makes for a fun photo, though.

Blogiversary!

That's right!  I've been blogging for one whole year--about 11 months and 2 weeks longer than I thought I'd last.

It's been a year since I sat down at my computer and, on a complete whim, wrote my first blog post.  I quickly chose "The Baby Days" as my title, and off I went.  I thought it'd be a good way to record things for my kids and keep family and friends updated on things without becoming "that mom" on Facebook. I had no idea how much I'd enjoy it.  I've loved reading other blogs and "meeting" other bloggers.  Blogging has become one of my favorite hobbies.

I'm glad to have my blog to look back on.  I hope my kids will check it out someday.  I hope they'll see how much I appreciated their babyness.  I hope they'll feel how much they were loved before they can even remember. And I hope I didn't embarrass them too badly. I do wish I'd chosen a different title--"The Baby Days" seemed much more appropriate just a year ago.

Here are, as always, some pictures...

Thanks for stopping by!

Mother's Day

I had a lovely Mother's Day weekend.

I spent Saturday picking flowers with the little one that made me a mother to begin with.

We happened upon another mother.  She was not so happy to see us.

Brooke has been begging to pick some of the little yellow flowers that cover the empty fields around our house.  We found some at the park.  She was in heaven.
Are there warning signs for hoarding?  We might have a problem here.

Brooke couldn't pick enough flowers.  She wouldn't put them down and she wouldn't feed them to the goats that begged for them at the petting zoo.

Someone at the park asked her if she'd picked flowers for her mom.

"No.  They're just my flowers."

Somebody call Dr. Phil.

It was lovely day, I tell you.

I'm so thankful for it.

Off to the Ball

It's princess-a-polooza around here.

First, the Easter bunny found the seven-princess set on sale for half off at Target.  Then, Brooke's preschool teacher gave her a few hand-me-down princess dresses, including...(gasp)...Cinderella.

This is the three-year-old equivalent of winning the lottery.

So we're having a slipper-wearing...

...prince-finding...

...clock-gonging, shoe-losing...
...watch-where-you-step...

good time around here.  :-)
